Flagyl Suspension is used in adults and helps your body get and remove infection from the site of infection. It is used in cases of acute bacterial vaginosis (ABV), also known as female genital tract infection (FGUIN), in or around the labia areata (lower genitalia) of women who are not pregnant or nursing. It is used to help in healing and thinning of urine after infection. It is used to help in treatment of chronic bacterial infection.
Use only as directed. Depending on the course of infection, a dose is prescribed in divided doses in sequential amounts. In the absence of a consistent history in adolescents and adults the initial dose may be 2.5-5mg for the entire course of infection, the dose may be increased to 5-10mg once daily. Dosages may be given once or twice daily. The dose may be divided in three or four separate courses, depending on the severity of the infection. Depending on the severity of infection the dosage may be different. See Patient Information leaflet for dosage forms.
Report to the overdose center. In the unlikely place of medical professionals, in the hope that the patient will complete the entire course of treatment, the symptoms of overdose may ensue. In the event of a medical emergency the correct dose and the frequency with which the overdose is ingested are important elements of the diagnosis. Immediate medical attention should be given to minimize the risk of self-injury and to ensure the safe and effective treatment of the infection. In the event of an overdose, seek medical assistance as soon as possible.
Unless a doctor or pharmacist has cautioned you that dosage forms of metronidazole should be taken with food, alcohol or milk, so that the patient does not get the full benefit of the drug. The usual adult dose of Flagyl Suspension (tablet; Flagyl®) for the treatment of female genital tract (FGUIN) is 20-50 mg/kg bodyweight twice daily. In the symptomatic treatment of ABV, the dose may be adjusted depending on the severity of the infection and the degree of vaginal atrophy. The recommended starting dose of Flagyl is 2.5-5.0 mg/kg bodyweight once daily. In the case of symptomatic treatment of FGUIN, the dose may be adjusted based on the degree of vaginal atrophy. The usual starting dose is 5 mg/kg twice daily. In the case of nursing, the dose may be adjusted based on the degree of vaginal atrophy. The dose should be limited to 2.5 mg/kg every 24 hours or 5 mg/kg every 12 hours. The maximum dose administered is 10 mg/kg every 24 hours. The recommended dose in adults is 10 mg/kg twice daily, not exceeding 5 mg/kg, depending on the severity of infection. For the treatment of chronic bacterial infection, the dose should be 10 mg/kg twice daily, not exceeding 5 mg/kg, depending on the degree of vaginal atrophy. The recommended dose in pediatric patients is 5 mg/kg twice daily, not exceeding 2.5 mg/kg, and in adults 2.5 mg/kg or 5 mg daily, not exceeding 5 mg. The maximum dose administered is 10 mg/kg every 12 hours. The recommended dose in adults is 2.5 mg/kg twice daily, not exceeding 5 mg, depending on the severity of infection. The recommended dose in children is 2.5 mg/kg twice daily, not exceeding 5 mg, and in adults 1 mg/kg daily, not exceeding 2.5 mg.

Flagyl Suspension can be absorbed through the esophagus and is relatively safe with regards to water volume. However, the vast majority of patients who take it do so to prevent infections, and those at particular risk can, therefore, be administered with caution. The exact sources of these side effects, however, need careful consideration in most cases. The majority of patients who use it to treat FGUIN develop a rash, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and fever.

Flagyl is a brand-name prescription antimicrobial used to treat bacterial infections of the heart, blood, nervous system, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, lungs, joints, bones, and skin. Extended-release metronidazole is commonly prescribed to treat bacterial vaginosis and sexually transmitted infections such as trichomoniasis.
As an antimicrobial, Flagyl cannot be used to treat viral infections. If Flagyl is being used to treat a sexually transmitted infection (like trichomoniasis), both sex partners should use the medication simultaneously. This helps reduce the risk of reinfection in either partner. Antimicrobials stop the growth of harmful microorganisms in the body, so simultaneous use in both partners of metronidazole will help prevent the infection from living on and being passed between partners.
Flagyl is supplied as an oral tablet or extended-release capsule. It contains the drug metronidazole, which is available in generic form. Flagyl is only available via prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.
ispershedTrichomoniasis is an infection caused by the sexually transmitted bacteria Streptococcus pneumonia.
Trichomoniasis can lead to complications in both the physical and medical stages. These include pelvic pain, infertility, pelvic pain, and vaginitis. Vaginal tmesquina is a common type of infection that can lead to pain and inflammation in the vaginal wall, which can be treated by medications like Flagyl.
Men who have a uterus may also be susceptible to trichomoniasis. Vaginal tmesquina is found in both the vagina and the penis. Symptoms of trichomoniasis may include pelvic pain, infertility, pelvic pain, and symptoms such as pain spreading to the groin and around the upper part of the abdomen, and difficulty passing urine.
Anyone who develops a vaginal yeast infection during sexual activity should have a yeast swab sent to your local sexual health clinic. If your doctor cannot find symptoms, such as pain during sexual intercourse, pain spreading to the genitals, or irritation at the vaginal opening, offer medical advice and, in the case of an offer to you, may be for treatment.
Over-the-counter antifungal creams and ointments can be effective tools at controlling trichomoniasis. However, it's important to keep in mind that antifungal medications are not a cure for trichomoniasis and should be used with caution. Alternative treatments for trichomoniasis may include surgical procedures, anti-fungal creams, and over-the-counter antifungal medications.
Common side effects include headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and vomiting. These usually lessen as your body adjusts to the medication. However, if these side effects persist or become bothersome, contact your healthcare provider.
If you get any side effects while taking antifungal creams or ointments, call your doctor immediately or seek medical attention if you experience symptoms such as swollen glands, vaginal discharge, vaginal yeast infections, or pelvic pain. These symptoms may indicate a>:
